Accommodation

The Student Village is located on the western end of the campus and provides accommodation for over 500 residents in 103 self-contained flats which range in size from four to eight study/bedrooms.  All flats are furnished but residents provide their own bed linen, crockery and cutlery.

Student Village is administered by a Director, Assistant Director, Operations Manager, Finance and Records Supervisor, Building Supervisor, Building Assistant, Administrative Officer and a Clerical Assistant. Sixteen part-time Resident Coordinators and Resident Assistants are on duty after hours to assist residents with communal living arrangements within their flats.

Accommodation for Postgraduates on campus is limited. However, the Student Village has some places available and interested individuals are encouraged to fill out an application with supporting documentation concerning their reasons for requesting accommodation on campus.

It is University policy that each flat will house both male and female residents from different social and cultural backgrounds. The majority will be undergraduates, most of these first or second year students. About half of all the places available each year at the Student  Village are held for continuing residents (residents from the previous year). Consequently residents who meet the expectations at Student Village and contribute to the community may be offered accommodation for the subsequent year/s.

Murdoch University has engaged the services of a local agency to provide an off-campus housing service for students.  If you would prefer off-campus housing or were not successful in obtaining accommodation at Student Village, this professional placement service is available to you, to assist you in locating suitable off-campus accommodation.

All applications or enquires for off-campus accommodation should be directed to the Student Village in the first instance. The Village Housing office liases with the placement service on a daily basis.  There is a $35 registration fee, payable on application to the service.  The registration fee covers a period of 6 months, within which a student may request an alternative placement.

Four self-contained two bed, serviced flats are also available for short-term rental by visitors to the University. Postgraduate students requiring accommodation should contact the Student Village Housing Office for further information and application forms.
