Re-enrolment Procedures

PhD, MPhil candidates, LLM(Research) ,EdD, and Research Masters (with training) candidates, during the thesis component of their programs, will be enrolled for the calendar year. Renewal of enrolment for the following year will be subject to submission of a satisfactory annual progress report in September. In the annual progress report, you are asked to outline your progress, the stage now reached, the work to be completed and any problems relevant to the progress of your research. Your supervisor and the Executive Dean of your Faculty are asked to comment and to recommend whether or not you should be re-enrolled.

The Board will also ask you to indicate, on a confidential basis, whether you are experiencing any difficulties in the arrangements made for your supervision, and to comment on the quality of your supervision.

If your progress is satisfactory, the Board will approve your enrolment for the following year (subject to maximum allowable periods of enrolment - see below - and you will be informed by the Graduate Centre that you have been re-enrolled.

If progress is unsatisfactory, the Board may terminate or suspend your enrolment, or re-enrol you for a limited period at the end of which it will again review your progress. The Board may also review your progress at any time on its own initiative or at the request of your supervisor or of the Dean of your Faculty.

On the recommendation of their supervisor, research students may enrol in additional units which may be beneficial to their research programme. A maximum of 12 points during their candidature period is allowed.
