Graduate CentrePhD Completion ScholarshipsEligibility A student must be able to complete their thesis within the nominated period. The maximum period is four months, but applications for shorter periods are encouraged. A student must be enrolled on a full-time basis during the scholarship and must work full-time on the thesis. In order to be considered for a completion scholarship, applicants must be supported by their supervisor and their Faculty of Study. Students who have already held a previous scholarship other than a completion scholarship will be eligible to apply. Students who have already received a scholarship extension will be ineligible to apply for a completion scholarship for a period of 12 months after the expiry date of their award. Students are ineligible if they are currently receiving a scholarship.
Closing dates The closing dates for the 2009 application rounds are as follows: 31st March (for commencement by 31st May 2009)
Payment of Award The maximum value of the award is $6,810, and this would be paid in three equal instalments of $2,270.00. The first instalment will be made upon approval of the award, at the beginning of the scholarship, the second will be paid on completion of the milestone and the third will be paid on submission of the thesis for examination. Scholarships awarded for shorter periods of time we be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. Payments will be made as close to the designated milestone date as possible, but processing time for milestone forms and coinciding with the University payroll deadlines must be taken into account.
