Australian Postgraduate Award (APA)

Eligibility: Open to Australian or New Zealand Citizens and to Australian permanent residents. Applicants must be enrolled in or applying for admission for candidature for the degree of MPhil, PhD, or EdD in 2009 and possess a First Class Honours degree or equivalent. Applicants must normally be full-time; part-time awards can be considered in certain exceptional circumstances.

Benefits: Living allowance of $22,500pa (tax exempt)(expected 2010 rates). Thesis allowance up to $420 (MPhil) or $840 (PhD, EdD). Relocation allowance may be available to eligible students.

Tenure: The award is for a maximum of three years for PhD and EdD studies and two years for MPhil. An extension of up to 6 months may be granted for PhD candidates.
