Murdoch University Research Studentship (MURS)

Eligibility: Open to Australian or New Zealand citizens, and to Australian permanent residents. Overseas students who are subsidised by the Australian Government on a tuition-only award will automatically be considered for a Murdoch International Postgraduate Studentship (MIPS), with an equivalent stipend to a MURS.

Applicants must be enrolled in or applying for admission to full-time internal candidature for the degree of MPhil, PhD, EdD, Research Masters (with Training), MEd (Research) or LLM(Research) in 2009 and possess an honours degree (at least upper second-class honours) or equivalent.

Benefits: Living allowance of $22,500 pa (tax exempt)(expected 2010 rates). Thesis allowance up to $420 (MPhil, MEd(Research), LLM(Research), Research Masters with training)or $840(PhD, EdD). Relocation allowance may be available to eligible students.

Tenure: The award is for a maximum of three years for PhD and EdD studies, two years for MPhil, 18 months for the Research Masters with training, 12 months for the LLM(Research) and 12 months for the Master of Education (Research). Awards will be reduced for any credit given for degrees with coursework components. An extension of up to 6 months may be granted for PhD candidates.
