THE GRANTS AND CONTRACTS OFFICE

Office of Grants and Contracts @ Murdoch

Grants and Contracts Office performs a number of functions to facilitate the administration of grants and research outputs. It is responsible for the submission of all research grant applications to the relevant funding body, the provision of advice to researchers on the availability of funding opportunities, advice and assistance with the preparation of grant submissions, and the administration of successful grants. The Office of Grants and Contracts is located on the ground floor of the Chancellery in room 1.016.

Funding Opportunities

There are many, diverse sources of funding available for research. Some are government agencies, charitable organisations, private companies, and multinational conglomerates. With so many different sources of funding, we have provided a way of finding these opportunites through access to the various funding databases and the major funding schemes available. For more information and access to the databases, click here.

industrial Transformation Research Program

The Industrial Transformation Research Program (ITRP)   is a new scheme from the Australian Research Council which is intended to support quality R&D partnerships that will help transform Australian industries.  The Program will:

  • focus on research areas that are vital for Australia’s future economic prosperity;
  • support Industrial PhD students and researchers to gain ‘hands-on’, practical skills and experience in these important areas; and
  • foster important partnerships between business and universities.

To achieve this, the Program will fund Industrial Transformation Research Hubs and Industrial Transformation Training Centres

 Industrial Transformation Research Hubs will encourage collaborative R&D projects between universities and industry that could help solve the big problems facing our industries today.  Although the funding rules for this scheme have not yet been released (expected May), early indications suggest that the scheme is intended to be a Linkage version of the ARC Centres of Excellence and will be more Discovery, rather than end user focused.

 Industrial Transformation Training Centres will foster close partnerships between university-based researchers and the industry members who will use the research outcomes.

 More information on the scheme can be found in the ITRP Fact Sheet.

 If you are considering submitting an application for support through the ITRP, please complete the Expression of Interest form and submit the completed form to Kellie O’Toole before 28 May 2012.  Tendering an EoI will enable support to be provided to you during the development of your application and will give MU the opportunity to plan ahead so we can achieve the best possible chance of success.

Grant Application & Maintenance

The application for, and administration of the substantial sums of money that flow into Murdoch University for the purposes of conducting research require considerable work. The recent introduction of IRMA (Integrated Research Management Application) will streamline this process for both the researcher and the Support team. For your benefit, a step by step guide to submitting grant applications using IRMA is provided here. This site also provides information on submitting annual reports and other requirements once a grant is successful
