This report presents an overview of research achievements and current research
capacity at Murdoch, including information on our organisational units and
the equipment and facilities at their disposal. Expenditure on research exceeded
$50 million in 2002.

Murdoch was created as a research university and since its establishment in
1975 it has earned and maintained a strong reputation for the excellence of
its research work. The University has focused its research strengths into
seven Research Institutes, which reflect the University's strengths and multi-disciplinary
skills with a focus on issues of international significance.

- COS Databases
Community of Science, Inc. (COS) is the leading Internet site for the global
R&D community. COS brings together the world's most prominent scientists
and researchers at more than 1,600 universities, corporations and government
agencies worldwide. COS provides tools and services that enable these professionals
to communicate, exchange information and find the people and technologies
that are important to their work.
- Innovative Research Universities Australia
Collectively known as "Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Australia"
, Murdoch has established itself within a group of six medium-sized universities
that have shown innovation and excellence in research and research performance.
