John Howieson continues to demonstrate a high level of research innovation and industry impact in the field of legume productivity through symbiotic nitrogen fixation. He has a high level of International recognition in R & D and science leadership, provides considerable strategic planning in R & D and capacity building, and has made a highly significant contribution to the training of young scientists in his current and previous University positions.
Research interests include; the selection and development of root nodule bacteria as commercial inoculants for agricultural legumes, and the selection of annual and perennial legumes for sustainable agriculture.
